One of only 10 V400s - a rare Aston Martin featuring a tuned V8 and other tasteful upgrades, perfect for collectors.

HWM is the oldest and most established Aston Martin dealer, selling their cars since 1951. The V400 was commissioned directly by HWM, built and upgraded by Aston Martin at their factory as part of a limited run of just ten cars, with this being a rare manual gearbox model. The V400 was based on the 2008 4.3L V8 Vantage but featured tasteful modifications, including a tuned engine delivering approximately ~400BHP, heated seats, satellite navigation, 19" lightweight sport alloys, cruise control, Bluetooth, DBS-style clear rear lights, and numbered sill plates. The iconic nose-to-tail racing stripes were optional; however, this particular example stands out with them.

The current vendor has owned this example for the past ~5 and a half years. The car is in excellent condition with low mileage, and is sold with its private number plate "V400 WOW". It comes with two sets of keys and a current MOT valid until 24.06.2025, and was also serviced by the main dealer in June too. On top of all of this, in the current ownership, the car has had a lightweight flywheel and dual plate clutch kit fitted, transforming the experience all for the better.

Meet the owner

Number 1 of just 10 ever built—the V400 is certainly a collector’s item.

Kevin is a true petrolhead who loves his cars and was particularly drawn to this very rare, one-of-ten V8 Vantage V400 commissioned by HWM. He appreciates how this car drives, noting that it drives like new and that you can really feel the ~400BHP on the open road.

During his ownership, Kevin has had a lightened flywheel and dual-plate clutch fitted to enhance the driving experience. Although he had hoped to keep this example for many years, he is now rearranging his garage and looking for another sporty addition, which is why he is bringing this well-cherished example to auction with us. Exterior

One of the most stunning sports cars of its generation, the V8 Vantage is made even more prestigious with its V400 dealer package, featuring lightweight sport alloys and racing stripes.

Wheels and Tyres

The lightweight forged 19" 5-spoke alloy wheels, finished in silver, look great on this example and give the car a sporty appeal. During our visit, the wheels appeared to be well cared for, with no obvious damage to any of the spokes.

With the car having seen limited miles over its life, the wheels are fitted with Bridgestone Potenza tyres dated 2016, which also appear to be in excellent condition. They look to have a good amount of tread remaining and no visible cracking or signs of age on the sidewalls.

Bodywork

The bodywork of this V400 is in great condition, with all the panel gaps around the car appearing to align very well. During our visit, we didn't notice any obvious dings or dents on the bodywork. The V400 is enhanced with mesh on the side strakes and lower grille as part of the limited edition package.

Paint

Finished in black with grey racing stripes, the paint is evenly applied with consistent coverage and colour across each panel. While we did notice some minor stone chip at the front of the car, you'll need to get very close to spot them.

The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. So please take the time to fully assess these hi-resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint.

Glass and Trim

The glass on this V8 Vantage is in great condition, consistent with the car’s low mileage. During our visit, we didn't notice any chips, cracks, or discolouration. The window seals also look good and align with the car's overall condition.

The bumpers, door handles, and window surrounds are all in great condition as well. As part of the V400 package, the car was fitted with clear DBS rear lights, which truly make this 2008 example stand out.

Interior

A very inviting cabin, featuring the finest leather throughout, finished in black with silver trim.

Seats and Carpets

All V400s came with a black interior, and in this example, the original owner opted for black stitching to maintain a consistent, sleek theme throughout the car. The black leather sport seats have retained their shape very well over the years, as you would expect from cherished and careful ownership.

Dashboard

The dashboard is covered in a black leather finish and presents four dials in front of the driver.

The dashboard in this V8 Vantage V400 shows no signs of notable damage, and with no warning lights displayed. The odometer showed a reading of ~20,267 miles during our visit.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

A leather wrapped Aston Martin steering wheel is fitted with controls for the infotainment and cruise control. The original steering wheel is in great condition, aligning with the mileage of this car, and the black leather manual gearstick looks good too. Mechanics

The already impressive 4.3L V8 has been tuned with a ~20BHP power pack upgrade, boosting the car’s output to ~400BHP.

Engine and Gearbox

The 4.3L V8 engine from Aston Martin is highly desirable, offering ~400BHP with this V400 example. On the day of our visit, we started the car from cold, and it performed well on the road, the engine pulled nicely, idled smoothly, and ran without fault. The car was serviced at the main dealer in June 2024.

Kevin reports that the car starts from cold with no issues and drives well with its smooth manual six-speed gearbox powering the rear wheels. Take a look at the mechanical video to see the car starting from cold, driving around, and for a closer look underneath the V8 Vantage V400 and the smart engine bay. The car had the lightened flywheel and dual plate clutch kit fitted last year, transforming the driving experience.

Suspension and Brakes

The lightweight forged 5-spoke alloys allow a great view of the large brake callipers and disc offered all around. The suspension appears to be in good condition, providing a smooth journey on the sweeping Warwickshire roads.

During our short drive in the car, it felt just as you'd expect for a sports car from this era, coming to a stop without a fuss too.

The Drive

The V400 is rather special, 1 of 10 by HWM, a dealer special. The V8 Vantage offers an incredible drive a great amount of power in smooth British luxury.

The V400 fired up the first time with no issues to report. On the road with Kevin, the car felt tight, exhibiting plenty of power to navigate the road. We didn’t notice any unusual noises coming from the engine or suspension either.

Electrics and Other

We didn’t test all the electrics during our visit, but Kevin reports that, to his knowledge, all of the electrics are functional and operational, aligning with the overall condition of the car. The car comes equipped with cruise control, satellite navigation, bluetooth, and heated seats.

1 of 10, 14 main dealer service stamps, low mileage and coming to market from ~5 and a half years of ownership - this is a very lovely V8 Vantage ready to be cherished further.

The car is coming out of a ~5 and a half year ownership with Kevin. The car has bags of originality and with the 4.3L V8 and 6-speed manual gearbox, and a ~20bhp upgrade has that little bit more oomph to it than the earlier examples. As a V400 the car is fitted with 19" lightweight alloys, heated seats, satellite navigation, cruise control, bluetooth, DBS-style clear rear lights and purple numbered sill plates. Take a look at this history and paperwork media to see the previous MOT reports, servicing and parts this Vantage V8 V400 has received over its life. The V8 Vantage comes with a current MOT valid until 24.06.2025.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a history check on the vehicle - this is a professional check operated by HPI that will highlight if the car has been previously stolen, recorded as being in an accident, or have any outstanding finance - note, this does not include a mileage history check.

    What is your reserve policy?

    A reserve is the minimum price that the seller will let the car go for. We work with sellers to set realistic reserves in line with market pricing – we don’t take on vehicles with unrealistic pricing.     Why shouldn’t I leave bidding to the last minute?

    Auto-Extending Bidding – we’ve developed auto-extending auctions that mimic traditional auction house bidding; it’s a key feature to make sure classic vehicles achieve their true worth. Bids placed in the last one minute automatically extend the auction by two further minutes. So there is no need to leave bidding to the last second.

    Security – we operate higher levels of security, so you may need to enter further authorisations against your stored card after you select ‘Place Bid’. All this takes time and may mean you miss the end of the auction by the time the authorisation passes.
