Sleek design with a 5.9L V12 under the bonnet, you get the best of performance and practicality with the Rapide S.

Revealing the concept for the Rapide in 2006 at the North American International Auto Show, it wasn't until 2010 when production started. Sharing the same 5.9L V12 and similar design cues as the DB9, the Rapide has all the Aston Martin DNA you expect. In 2013 Aston Martin updated the Rapide with the "S" model, which this particular car is, giving it updated styling and increasing power to 550bhp, up from 470bhp of the original car.

This Rapide S comes to market from ~10 years ownership with only 1 former keeper. Only covering ~15,602 in its life, the car has been well looked after with 9 main dealer stamps in the service book, last serviced in June this year and coming with warranty until summer next year with Aston Martin.

Exterior

Like an elongated DB9, the Rapide S is a real head turner with its sharp design.

Wheels and Tyres

20" diamond cut Aston Martin wheels were found on the Rapide S, all looked in great condition, we didn't notice any damage on any of the wheels, nor did we notice any corrosion on the wheels.

A full matching set of Bridgestone Potenza tyres clad the wheels, 245/40R20 at the front and 295/35R20 at the rear, all looked to have a decent amount of tread left on them, dated 2013 at the front and 2014 at the rear.

Bodywork

Bodywork around the car looked in great condition, shut lines were tight on the doors, bonnet and boot. We didn't notice any dents or scratches on any of the panels. There was no noticeable corrosion on the body of the car either.

Paint

Finished in the Aston Martin colour of "Ceramic Grey", the paint looked in great shape, a nice even coverage across the car. We didn't notice any scratches in the paint. The paint has a deep sheen, we didn't notice any swirls, it has been well looked after. We noticed the factory PPF on the skirts was still present.

Glass and Trim

The glass on the car looked in great condition, we didn't notice any chips or cracks in any of the glass. Headlight and taillight lenses also looked in great condition.

All trim around the Rapide S was in top condition, we didn't notice any corrosion on any of the grilles around the body, chrome work also looked in great condition too.

Interior

Cream leather sports seats front and back, the Rapide S has both a luxurious and sporty feel in the cabin.

Seats and Carpets

A lovely cream leather interior welcomes the driver, the sports seats presented beautifully, showing very little signs of use, in line with the low mileage. The car features screens in the back of the front seats for the passengers in the rear to enjoy.

Carpets also looked in great condition with no major stains noted on any of the carpets. Please take a look at the photos and video below to decide on the condition of the seats and carpets for yourself.

Dashboard

Clocks looked in great condition, with the clockwise speedometer and anti-clockwise rev-counter. We didn't notice any scratches or fogging in the perspex.

The piano black interior trim also looked in lovely condition, free from scratches.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The standard Aston Martin steering wheel showed very little sign of use, we didn't notice any damage on the wheel either.

The Rapide has an automatic gearbox with buttons on the dashboard for drive selection, it also features paddles behind the wheel for manual control, they also looked in great condition.

Mechanics

Who doesn't love a V12, smooth power delivery of ~550BHP and and unmistakable growl.

Engine and Gearbox

A push of the "Emotion Control Unit", aka key, and the engine fired into life with no unwanted noises heard. On the road the engine performed flawlessly, putting the power down with ease, the noise accompanying makes the experience even more joyous.

The automatic gearbox performed very well as expected too, changing gears smoothly, with no unwanted noised noticed either. Please take a look at the cold start video below to see for yourself the performance of the engine and gearbox.

Suspension and Brakes

On the road with Peter the suspension felt sporty but not harsh, taking the winding country roads at good pace in its stride. There was no creaks or bangs heard from the suspension on our drive.

The braking force felt very impressive, bringing the Rapide to a stop in no time at all, with no judder or pulling on the wheel.

The Drive

On our short drive with Peter, the Rapide S lived up to the badge, plenty of power and poise, the engine picked up very quickly with gear shifts being both smooth and quick. Even on the far from optimal road surfaces we had the car on, the suspension did a great job of keeping the car planted and comfortable, while the brakes had a great bite to them.

Electrics and Other

The Rapide S is packed with plenty of gadgets, from heated and cooled seats to TV/DVD players in the headrest, everything we test was in working condition, while anything we didn't test Peter assured us it was working.

Coming to market from ~10 year ownership, serviced by Aston Martin this year and 9 times in total, and just ~15,600 on the clock, this Rapide S has to be considered as one of the best on the market.

The car has been serviced almost annually at the main dealer, it's lead a pampered life. In its 10 year history it has only covered ~15,600 miles. The service book has been stamped 9 times at main dealers, all the receipts are in the file too, the last service taking place in June this year.

The car comes with Aston Martin warranty which is valid until July 2024 and a valid MOT until 27.06.2024.
