2016 Ferrari California T

Premium Classified Sale

Introduction

Chad Hamel-Smith
Modern Performance Specialist

Offering extraordinary performance, brilliant handling and monstrous amounts of torque, the California T is a genuine driver’s car built to perform.

After four years of development, Ferrari introduced a new turbocharged engine for the first time in 22 years with the T being the first turbocharged Ferrari since the F40 in 1987. The introduction of the 3.9L, ~553bhp, twin-turbo engine on the California T was a major mechanical overhaul from the previous incarnation of these cars.

A 7-speed dual-clutch transmission with full automatic drive or paddle shift mode delivers lighting fast gear changes and comes equipped with 12% stiffer springs and a 10% quicker steering rack. The latest magnetorheological dampers make the journey stiffer or softer when you need it the most and grips like a dream thanks to Ferrari's Grand Prix proven traction control system.

Its not only the technological advancements that make this car, the raw power under the sculpted, aluminium bonnet is enough to deliver a 0-62mph time of ~3.6 seconds, maximum power of ~553bhp and Ferrari launch control providing an unforgettable experience. Listening to the V8 firing up from cold is enough to make you fall for the car from the first time you hear it with the quad exhaust bringing the car to life.

Coming to market with just ~19,081 on the clock at time of visit, this California T is a really fine example of Ferrari magic that just begs to be driven. And the seller has even booked the car in for a service on 20th March (Dick Lovett Ferrari). The car will come with nearly 3 month Ferrari warranty and then 3 months further warranty with Customer Protect.

The price quoted here is fully inclusive, i.e. there's nothing else to pay on top and also includes free delivery to any mainland UK destination. I'm here to answer any questions you may have about the car - just select the red 'I'm Interested' button above to get in contact with me.

This listing was written from information supplied by Glyn (Our photographer) after meeting the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Exterior

Beautiful Italian sleek design is on show on every corner of the car and, with its sweeping lines and stylish looks it's a truly striking machine.

Wheels and Tyres

Overall the wheels and tyres are in good condition. The 5 spoke star style 20" wheels show in a smart way as do the centre badges. There was a little sign of curbing on the nearside front rim, but showed no indication of damage to the tyre itself.

For the tyres, a matching set of Pirelli P-Zero's are responsible for the California T's road grip showing 285/35 to the rear and 245/35 to the front. The tyres are in respectable condition given the date codes of 07/19 to the front and from 10/19 on the rear.

Please take a look over the exterior gallery section for a close up view of the wheels and tyres on the Ferrari.

Bodywork

The super light but strong, all aluminium bodywork on the California T is in excellent condition.

Looking around the car there are no dings that we noted and the door shut lines are visually equal and matching, as are the bonnet and boot - opening and closing cleanly and precisely.

We've highlighted in more detail our observations through our hi-resolution images and videos, so please take time to look through all the media files for a detailed view at what’s on offer, and for you to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

Paint

A glorious coat of Rosso Corsa is a classic colour you often see a Ferrari dressed in. Looking great across the panels, the finish is beautiful and a real head turner whilst on the road. Being picky, we noted a small stone chip on the rear nearside quarter panel, but nothing that stood out to us as a particular concern.

With a clear covering of PPF (Paint Protection Film) on the front bumper, bonnet, front wings, side skirt panels, rear quarter and rear roof panel, the next owner will be safer in the knowledge that stone chips are less likely to cause future concerns given the added shielding.

Again, we have taken high resolution images and videos of the car for you to assess the condition of the bodywork for yourselves. The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. So please take the time to fully assess these high resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint.

Glass and Trim

The glass sections around the Ferrari showed really well with side windows, mirrors and lenses all appearing in a great condition with no significant chips, cracks or scratching that we observed during our visit. We did note a stone chip on the windscreen which was highlighted in the MOT as an advisory.

Take a look through the exterior gallery and review video, we take you across all the areas of the car as if you were standing there for yourself. This way, you can see in greater detail what a great looking car the California T really is.

Interior

With its luxurious interior, the cabin area of the California T is packed with detail from its contrasting red stitching to carbon fibre steering wheel.

Seats and Carpets

The white / cream leather bound seats hold the driver and passenger well and give a great amount of comfort. The seats are in very good condition with just the usual slight sign of wear to the drivers bolster section. Looking over the rear seat sections of the Ferrari show very little wear at all.

There are some lovely additional details to the interior sections with the contrasting red stitching and red seatbelts on the seat sections.

Carpets sections look good too, presented in a lovely red finish - the drivers section of the car mats is doing a good job to protect the underneath sections that look in really good condition.

No issues with the roof lining - all looking good.

Over in the boot, the carpeted sections show nicely and are tidy with no marks or tears seen on our visit.

Dashboard

Centre mounted infotainment system gives the driver control of radio / stereo, phone integration and sat-nav system. Dash instruments present really well showing no signs of fogging or display issues with the odometer reading ~19,081 miles during our visit.

All the buttons, dials and centre console storage section worked without issue and present in very good condition.. A beautiful 'California-T' emblem sits proudly on the dash area also.

Our interior gallery section takes you over some closer images of the California T dashboard, head over and see the cars interior in finer detail.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The carbon fibre flat based wheel is in excellent condition with all the contrasting red stitching intact on the wheel surround. Smart looking in-line red Start / Stop button gives a real 'race edge' to the car along with the wheel mounted Comfort / Sport / ESC (Electronic Stability Control) drive modes.

Aluminium wheel mounted gear shift paddles give the driver ultimate driving control with the option to shift through the automatic gear system.

We've captured high-resolution photos for you to review and appreciate the condition of the interior in our gallery section.

Mechanics

With a 0-62mph time of ~3.6 seconds, maximum power of ~553bhp and Ferrari launch control, this is a car that provides an unforgettable experience from start to finish.

Engine and Gearbox

Looking over the Ferrari, its a real standout piece of machinery and beautifully engineered. The exhaust system is so menacing and the roar that erupts from the quad pipes is truly an awesome sound. A 7-speed dual-clutch transmission makes its way through the gears with ease and with a little throttle blip, the twin-turbo V8 kicks in with an incredible powerful punch.

The California T started first time and sounded beautiful in our 'Mechanical Review' video where we include the roof opening feature and look over the engine bay in more detail.

Suspension and Brakes

Being a high end sports car you may expect the Ferrari to ride in a firm way but the damping in Comfort and even Sports mode give a really refined level of comfort out on the open road. With 12% stiffer springs than the previous California model the ride feels controllable and planted, plus, the latest version of Ferrari's Grand Prix proven traction control system gives a comfortable and grippy feel when out on a journey.

The disc and brake setup is another great feature of this car designed to bring the car safely to a stop when required. Brembo ceramic discs and brakes fill up most of the 20" wheel.

The Drive

The Ferrari corners like a dream with seriously impressive grip and accuracy. The limited slip diff does a great job of ensuring the power is evened out through corners and with a weight distribution of 47:53 in favour of powering the rear, the California T provides a really rewarding drive.

The car worked its way through the gears nicely with the clutch working well. We noted no shaking or juddering on the steering and showed no pull to the side when braking.

Electrics and Other

Centre mounted infotainment system gives the driver control of radio / stereo, phone integration and sat-nav system. Dual climate control gives the driver and passenger full control of the cabin temperature through the centre console controls.

The Ferrari comes complete with the official Ferrari car cover, original carry bag, Ferrari windbreak and official electronic battery charger. Over in the boot section, a Ferrari toolkit is present. The roof mechanics appear to work well and opens in a respectably fast time of ~14 seconds.

All features are reported to be working without issue or fault. You'll notice that the tyre pressure sensor was set off during the cold start video, as the car hadn't been used for a while and pressures had dropped with freezing conditions. A calibration reset cleared the message. Also, the parking sensor message was displayed during the cold start video too - this was likely due to the garage location and filming activity around the car. Once the car was out of the garage and moved / driven for the photoshoot, then the sensors worked at expected with no warning. The car has also been booked in for a fresh service and check over.

History and Paperwork

The California T comes to market with its 3.9L V8 twin-turbo engine covering only ~19,081 miles at time of visit, and with regular Ferrari servicing and finished beautifully, this is one not to miss.

Coming to market with ~19,081 on the clock at time of visit, this Ferrari California T is truly a drivers car. The Ferrari has benefitted from regular dealer servicing over its history with the latest service carried out on 14.04.2022 covering off engine oil, engine oil filter, anti-pollen filter and brake system oil changes.

Prior to this, the engine oil, engine oil filter and anti-pollen filter was changed in 05.03.2021. In 21.02.2020 engine oil, engine oil filter and anti-pollen filter plus the air filter cartridges, brake system oil and engine ancillary belts were updated. 2017, 2018 and 2019 saw regular Ferrari servicing covering off similar elements as the newer maintenance updates.

Please note the private registration V88 SDP is not included in the sale. The car will be re-registered to its YE16 JFN original reg plates. The car currently has outstanding Finance and this will be cleared as part of the sale.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on seeing the car in person and from information gained from the seller, however, and as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa.
